Are Luxury Makeup Products Worth It?
Do you ever wonder if luxury makeup for mature skin is worth the investment? If so, join me as I get ready and share my favorite high-end beauty finds.
The right products can transform not just your look, but also how you feel. That’s especially true if you’re in your 50s, 60s, or, like me, 75. I’m Lynda, and welcome to New Age Beauty. As a former model from the 70s, I now share beauty, skincare, makeup, cosmetic treatments, fitness, style, wellness, and mindset tips for women over 55 who want to age beautifully—mind, body, and spirit.
Makeup keeps evolving, just like we do. However, I’m not here to chase trends. Those come and go. Instead, my focus is on finding “it” products—the staples that deliver the very best results for mature skin. And when I find something truly worth the money, I can’t wait to share it.
Skin Prep: The Foundation of Any Great Look
Before any makeup touches my face, skin prep comes first. I start with a quick cleanse, followed by moisturizing and protective products. You’ll find a full list of everything I use in the description box.
Next, I apply City Beauty Lid Lifting Treatment for a subtle lift that makes a difference. Then, I reach for my tried-and-true P. Louise Shadow Base. It creates the perfect canvas for any eyeshadow.
If you’ve watched my “Ageless Eyes” video, you know I apply my own lash clusters. They instantly open up the eyes. I’ve linked that tutorial HERE so you can see my full process.
💡 Tip: A morning beauty ritual does more than improve your appearance. It signals to your brain that you’re ready to face the day. As a result, you may notice improved posture, more confident body language, and a more positive attitude.
Flawless Base: Foundation and Concealer

Prada Reveal Foundation
One of the first steps in my luxury makeup for mature skin routine is the Prada Reveal Foundation. The creamy liquid formula leaves a luminous, skin-like finish. To apply it, I use the BK Beauty 116 Liquid Foundation Brush with gentle dabbing motions. This technique ensures a smooth, streak-free base.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Concealer
Next, I brighten and even my skin using Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer in 2.5C. This shade matches my skin tone, so it covers dark areas without looking obvious.
Then, I add a lighter shade (1W) to subtly lift hollows under the eyes. I’m careful to avoid the outer corners where fine lines can form.
MAC Studio Radiance Concealer
To finish, I use MAC Studio Radiance Luminous Lift Concealer in NC5 at the outer edges. This adds radiance and helps lift the face visually.
Brows: Framing the Face
Brows set the tone for the whole look. I use a pencil to create upward strokes for lift. In addition, I set them with Flawless Hold Up Soft Set Creamy Brow Wax, which has the perfect neutral tone.
Eyes: A Natural, Neutral Look

For this look, I chose the Hourglass Curator Collection Quad in Minimalist—four matte shades that blend beautifully.
- First, I mix the medium and light shades with the Nikki LaRose N13 Brush to define the brow area and blend upward.
- Next, the lightest shade (on the N12 Brush) goes under the brow and across the lid for brightness.
- Finally, I combine the medium and dark browns on the BK Beauty 209 Pencil Brush to define the outer crease.
The result is soft and polished—perfect for everyday wear.
Contour for Dimension
The Dior Forever Contour Stick in 01 is one of my all-time favorites. The neutral tone mimics natural shadows, so it adds definition without harshness. I blend it upward with the BK Beauty 109 Mini Contour Brush to create lift.
💡 Tip: Contouring along the jawline and shortening the forehead can balance your features and create a more youthful shape.
Cream Blush for a Fresh Glow
For cheeks, I’m using the Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Healthy Glow Stick Blush in Rosy Gold. This juicy shade blends beautifully with the BK Beauty 112 Brush, leaving a natural, lit-from-within glow.
Liner, Powder, and Setting
- Huda Beauty Creamy Kohl Eyeliner for subtle definition and tightlining.
- By Terry Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder to set the under-eye area.
- La Prairie Loose Powder for a blurred, flawless finish.
Layering Powder Blush
To lock in color, I apply Ravie Beauty Endless Diffusion Baked Blush in Paradise over the cream blush. I use the Nikki LaRose N15 Brush for a soft, radiant finish.
Lips: Defined but Natural
I start with Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in Wherever Walnut, slightly overlining the center for fullness. To finish, I use Buxom Lip Gloss for shine and a refreshing menthol tingle.
